Systematic Design of Discrete-Time Linear Controllers for a DSTATCOM
The Custom Power Devices provide compensation capabilities to mitigate Power
Quality problems related with harmonics and reactive power. Two different reactive
power and dc-voltage linear control schemes are presented for the DSTATCOM in this
work. The multivariable, non-linear, and coupled features of this topology make the
control strategy design a non-trivial task. However, controlling these complex systems
with linear controllers – as the ones proposed in this work – presents significant
advantages related to simplicity in the digital implementation. The proposed control
strategies are systematically designed and finally implemented on a DSP based
system. Consequently, the design procedure is carried out on the discrete-time and -
frequency domain by means of the system linearized model. Several tests are used to
probe the stability of the resulting hybrid system which is a combination of a
continuous-time nonlinear topology and a discrete-time linear control strategy. The
synchronization, control, and modulation algorithms were implemented using a DSP
TMS 320F2812 in order to probe the feasibility of the control scheme over a low-power
laboratory prototype. |
