Extended - Horizon Finite - Control - Set Predictive Control of a Multilevel Inverter for Grid - Tie Photovoltaic Systems

A mixed scheme of linear control and predictive control with extended horizon for a three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter topology for grid-tie photovoltaic applications is presented. The proposed strategy is able to balance the capacitor voltages at the dc link and to generate a sinusoidal current at the grid side with a near unitary power factor. In addition, the strategy is able to operate at the maximum power point (MPP) of the photovoltaic module.
